Due to the pandemic, I was forced to make key note slide workshops and classes. Not only was this tons of fun, but I could finally utilize my college design experience.        MARS’ INGRESS into ARIES

 

Oh yes, “he” is here for a long stay in his home sign - all the way until approximately January 6th (depending on where you are located on Earth). Traditionally, what might be the medical influence of this long transit?

     Literally, Mars in Aries would be seen as bringing “hot head”, i.e. increased “astral”dry heat to the head, brain and eyes. 

     Cooling, moist herbs, harvested, decocted or administered under water signs, and increasing literal water were a few traditional remediations.

     The old time “astrologo-physicians” would seek to allay this astral heat, thinking this would prevent stroke, rashes, tempers, stings, eyestrain, head accidents and other conditions associated with Mars in this sign. Those with Sun, Moon is Aries might find it interesting to document the influence of his passage within 1-3 degrees of your Sun or Moon. 

     Mars is also heating to the Ascendant, (especially in Aries). This transit is associated with the raising of the body temperature, and a greater need for muscular activity. 

     One thing was known and widely believed: Mars in Aries “raised the temper” as well as the temperature. In the old way of thinking, dehydration of the brain should be avoided at all cost when Mars was in fire signs, especially if the weather is likewise hot. Aries is our first fire sign of the fire trilogy.

     My observation of persons born with natal Mars in Aries supports the notion that the adrenal response is fast and vivid in this sign-planet combination! Adrenal support (adaptagens) may be in order! Both Aries and Mars have a strong governance of this gland (along with Libra).   For those in need of an energizing ray, this protracted Mars transit might be welcome. Mars raises physical heat and energy by delivering his hot, drying and quite stimulating Cosmic Yellow ray to the bodily field via the chakra system (according to the Jyotish). However, in the West, he is believed to share the Cosmic Red Ray with Sol. The yellow and red rays are both similarly “hypo”, speeding up some physical functions, and drying. 

     Mars in Aries is noted to be a little hard on the kidneys because “he” opposes his opposite sign Libra. He is harsh on the skin and inflaming to joints (Capricorn), and acidifying to the stomach (Cancer). Both these two signs stand at “hard angles” or 90 degrees on the zodiacal circle from Aries. 

     Because upward moving fire energy is in excess, the use of antipathetic cold, moist treatment was the Renaissance mainstay. However,  traditionally, in the case of Mars, the physician always included at least one appropriate herb “of Mars”, to help “fetch out fire with fire” - (Blagrave, 1600s). 

     Yes, I am avoiding stating all negative potentials, which are many (Mars is a first rate malefic). It is better to conceive of the positive uses, and potential ways to allay, channel or antidote the more pathological expressions.

“Covie Award” winners!!!!

As many know, the pandemic cause the cancellation of many astrological conferences.Personally, I want to salute the intrepid Rasha Hasan and Linea Van Horn, and their team at The San Francisco Astrological Society for rescuing the International Astrology Day, SF. conference. I was so impressed with all speakers! and learned so many new things! All talks should be available on their site.

     It is amazing how fast and effectively the conference was converted to an online format,to the great pleasure of all participants and speakers. Thank you! Gratitude is due.

     Laura Nalbandian and her family and team performed a Herculean feat of converting NORWAC to virtual in a matter of weeks. This was a learning curve for all. The transfer and training for us speakers was impeccably coordinated, with Laura at the helm! The event was an overwhelming success, and continues to make waves around the planet.
